Now travel reporter extrordinaire Steve Duer is in the theatre district sharing about the interesting Booth theatre, actually named after Edwin Booth, the brother of John Wilkes Booth..and we all know who he was.

  • nice video but Booth's greatest financial windfall came many years after his brother killed the president. His tour with Lawrence Barrett was his greatest financial success. And that was even after he lost everything in the disaster that was the original Booth Theatre.

  • Sorry, Ashley, but Steve has it right. Booth's original theatre, which we named after hmself, stood at the corner of 6th Avenue and 23rd Street in Manhattan (the one in the video is on 45th Street in the present theatre district. In Booth's day the theatre district was further downtown than now). Booth's original theatre burnt down and Booth did indeed go bankrupt due to his losses.

  • i have the book in the video. it rocks! but he bought the theatre and named it booth.. then he filed bankruptcy and they kept it that name.
