@MisterDataJack I would argue that the FBI is unconstitutional and the Interstate system could be handled by the states.

I'll take stock of what people like Warren Buffett says the day he fires his tax accountants, files a 1040 short form and writes a BILLION dollar check to Uncle Sam, just because he can.

@tgoyer Federal cops are (FBI, etc) a federal responsibility.. And Interstate roads are, too. I don't argue that our govt's spending has to be controlled. But that doesn't change the fact that our wealthiest are paying too few taxes. I'm am only advocating raising taxes on the top 2% of earners (like the prez), and only on their highest amounts. Does that include you? Because it does include me, and I still think it is the right thing to do

@MisterDataJack I would answer that with "roads, cops, fire fighters, etc" are not the responsibility of the Federal Government. I'm not anti-tax. I'm anti-wasteful spending. If the Federal govt proved to me that they were good stewards of the fruits of *my* labor, then I wouldn't be as hard on them as I am.

@tgoyer I am certain you are being purposefully obtuse, but I will reply anyway. Modern governments do not have a mechanism for making money (mostly) without taxation, because nations no longer plunder one another for loot.

If we say "you can just send in as much as you like!" then only the decent people (and those who understand economics well) would send money, and they are a tiny minority.

So, in order to fund social services (roads, cops, fire fighters, etc.) the people have to pay taxes.

@MisterDataJack Good point. Time to start taxing all those people who receive a net tax gain from the govt every year. I mean, they have to pay their fair share, right? Screw the little guy, we have a social utopia to fund.
