A clip from "In Between the Notes," a portrait of Pandit Pran Nath by his disciples and available for purchase at the Mela Foundation website (www.melafoundation.org). I am not affiliated with the Mela Foundation but I encourage you to purchase the video!

Pandit Pran Nath (1916-1996) was one of the most important Indian musicians of the 20th century. A master of the Kirana Gharana (of which I am a disciple), Pran Nath was reknowned for his vocal talent, and best known for his description of the raga as existing mostly between the notes. His exploration of raga through his compositions were incredibly moving and masterful.
