Pandit Pran Nath (1916-1996) was one of the most important Indian musicians of the 20th century. A master of the Kirana Gharana (of which I am a disciple), Pran Nath was reknowned for his vocal talent, and best known for his description of the raga as existing mostly between the notes. His exploration of raga through his compositions were incredibly moving and masterful.
