wow, looking at the video, all of it is so overhyped. tekkaman blade-style. it's kinda understandable, given that masami obari's mecha animation style is all over mecha anime-fandom during the early 90s. but to see macross joining the bandwagon is kind of disappointing. no wonder kawamori labelled it as "an alternate universe."

@808jspekeg6 Macross 7 got bad reviews? But 7 got the the best songs in the whole of the series. I'm still listening to fire bombers even now. I love how all the series connects with each other. Except for Macross 2 which seems to play out in an alternate time line.

Well, I would highly suggest you see the movie "Macross: D.Y.R.L." first. If you liked it, then proceed to watch the original "SDF Macross" 36 episodes tv version.

@808jspekeg6 if you don't watch it for bad reviews, at least watch it for the music scenes
I think most of those bad reviews come from the fact that it's rather slow. ... Or maybe it relates or adds nothing to any the other Macrosses. I wouldn't know since this is the only one I've seen. I've plans to see the other though.

I've always wanted to watch this sequel, but I constantly kept hearing nothing but bad reviews. It's too bad, that VF-2SS (???) could have been another classic.
SDF-Macross: Loved it!
Macross: Do You remember Love?: Loved it!
Macross Plus: Hated it!
Macross Zero: Hated it (Dog fights were cool though).
Macross F: Mildly entertained. Visuals were stunning though.
Macross 7: Never saw it due to bad reviews
