Change the World (poem)

I wrote this poem when I was 14, making this the oldest poem of mine I have posted yet. The photos were taken in Inks Lake Park in Texas when I went camping there just over a couple of years ago. You aren't supposed to feed the deer but this was one very pregnant and very hungry lady, so I fed her vegetable scraps. I do hope you enjoy! =)

Change the World

A little girl that grew up
with daisies and laughter.
She has a pure heart
and a soaring free spirit.
She wants to change the world.
She is special.

They see her as odd
and extremely peculiar.
And even though,
she just wants good things
for everyone-
they taunt her and tease her,
because she is different.

She wants to change the world.
She is special.

They are afraid.
"She must think she
is better than us."
She's not, and she
knows that.
She sees the problems
and how to fix them,
but no one listens.
They don't like change,
no matter what they say.

She wants to change the world.
She is special.

They preach peace,
but aren't willing to have it.
They proclaim themselves
nonjudgmental,
when all they do is judge.
She wanted to help them
see their error,
not say they are bad or wrong.
But they molested her heart,
jaded her thoughts,
and punctured her soul.

She will survive though,
and become stronger from it.

She will change the world,
because she is special.

You are so sweet Sarah, thank you! I like to look back at this poem every once in a while to remind myself of dreams that should never be forgotten. Yes this is my first actual picture I have posted of myself, even though it is a couple of years old. Thanks about my hair. Normally it looks more red, and now it is much longer.. =)

Very nice poem. Especially the verse "They preach peace, but aren't willing to have it." et seqq., that's very true but nowadays only few people accept it and even fewer are willing to change it.

Yea! Glimpse of 420! My mother was a redhead and man was it beautiful. In ways I'm jealous, I only got the skintone. :P You're hair is longer and redder than the pic....I take back what I said....IT'S AWESOMELY KICK ASS BEAUTIFUL! :)

Thanks! Yes, I started writing young I guess. I think one of my favorite poems is one I wrote when I was 12 or so, maybe I will share that one soon. I am glad you like it! =)
