I find it weird to say that the 70's was Patti Labelle's prime when she totally sang the hell out of "Purple Rain" during a tribute for Prince. remembering her hits during the 80's and 90's makes it sound more weird to me. I guess for me Patti Labelle is timeless.

Seriously, whats fascinating to me is how ahead of their time they were..think about it, Before Madonna knew a fuckin thing about metallic bras, Sarah was doin that in the early 70's...before Michele N'degaeocello knew a damm thing about being bi sexual rock chick, Nona was doin that in the sixties with Dusty Springfield..and before Beyonce' was doin sexually explicit stuff on stage, there was Nona and Grace Jones. A group like Labelle, became the grandmothers of doin shit off the beaten path.
