@TheVanityChest That's a tough question. Traditional "glass" is SiO2 (silicon dioxide), while "crystal" usually contains other elements including lead. I am not sure how nail files fit into this or if quality is affected. But, I agree, like you mention, there is a difference in quality with generic vs. some brand names. My experience has been 'Made in China' is worse than 'Made in Czech Republic' and a like. The more transparent they are the finer more lasting the grit.
