Kourabiedes are a traditional Greek cookie made for special occasions like Christmas. They are butter cookies covered with icing sugar and are a favourite among Greeks. This recipe makes a huge amount of cookies (about 8 dozen), so feel free to cut the recipe in half or simply give them away to loved ones as gifts!

  • She is the sweetest thing. And her recipe turned out perfect. I got to eat one cookie as the 'gang' dove right in and gobbled them up like a pack of locusts! Well, time for another batch! I think I'll hide some for myself!

  • allo ti kanis. I cant wait to fix these cooies for yaya and suprise her. Do i cut the crisco in have and the butter ?

  • @womanbread

I make these. There called koulouraka. I don't put almonds on mine, and I twist mine into a rope shape, but I'm sure that's what you're talking about. I have a video if you'd like to watch it. Just search for "koulourakia". Mine is titled, "koulourakia for Catherine".

  • I followed this recipes and its the best one.

  • Hi - I'm wondering if anyone can help me. There's a Greek ring-shaped butter cookie with sesame seeds (and sometimes almonds were added in) that my grandmother used to make when we were kids, that she always referred to as something that sounded like 'kloothia' or 'kloothya.' I doubt that's the spelling of it - is it 'koulouria' or 'kourabiedes' the word that she meant? And is it pronounced 'kloothya'? Thanks for any help you can give me.
