This fencepost was vandalized on July 9, 1776, the day the Declaration of Independence was first read aloud in New York. The leaden crown decorations atop this fence were sawn off to become musketballs for the American Revolution. Come to New York City. I'll show you the fence, and you can feel the saw marks for yourself. This may be the only American Revolution artifact you'll ever touch.
