Simon Cowell Pokes Fun at Idol and Kisses Paula Abdul in First X-Factor Promo

I'm Karli and we've got Simon Cowell poking fun at American Idol and kissing Paula Abdul again on today's PopSugar Rush!

The first preview of the US X Factor is out and Simon Cowell is showing that he has a sense of humor about his American Idol past by mimicking his old show's signature style.

The preview starts off with a dream sequence where Simon is back behind the judges table with Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger, and LA Reid. All of them have sodas in front of them like they do on Idol, and the contestants are seen bursting through the audition doors. You almost expect to see Ryan Seacrest waiting for them. Then to cap it all off, Simon drives away in what looks like a car commercial. It's clear they got their inspiration from Idol.

The only thing out of place with the Idol parody is the inclusion of a nice Simon, but all that ends when Mr. Cowell wakes up. The video makes it clear that the old Simon — and all his unfiltered honesty — is back in a big way.

After two years apart, Idol's two ex judges Simon and Paula get quite cozy in the promo, but it's not the first time we've seen them kiss. The two locked lips in a skit for season two of Idol, during auditions, and when they reunited for X Factor in May.

Simon and Paula have interesting chemistry. One minute they're at each other's throats and the next they're flirting up a storm. I have to admit that I missed seeing their banter on Idol so I'm excited to see them team up again.

The X Factor premieres September 21st on Fox.
