Yala National Park in Sri Lanka is home to no less than 32 species of mammals. The large species are sloth bear, leopard, elephant and water buffalo. Among the bird species are Peacock, crested serpent eagle, white bellied sea eagle, Lesser Flamingo, Pelican, Spoonbill, painted stork and purple heron. While Mugger Crocodile is abundant in the abandoned reservoirs, Estuarine Crocodiles are found in the rivers.
