oh yeah, climbing without a spotter is always safe..not.

Agreed...very poor judgment.

I agree with the above comments. Join the Hoofer's climbing club if you're in Madison, or hire a guide. A helmet is not going to save you on a fall - a helmet is meant to protect you from falling rocks. At least get a bouldering pad and a clue. You give climbers a bad name.

Seriously, this is a cool video, but it is also a perfect example of the biggest reason why rock climbing is looked down upon in this area. Too many people try to climb without proper gear (or any gear in this case). Rock climbing got banned north of devils lake (governor dodge state park) because too many climbers died climbing without gear. A climber died here at devils lake a year ago after falling only 25 feet (just like this vid). USE GEAR, don't screw it up for the rest of us.

Learn how to hold a camera the right way.

that place is beast i climb there every year

This is why rescue squads have to keep coming to Devil's Lake -- because hikers climb rocks without basic rock climbing safety equipment such as ropes and a belayer.
i totally would've caught him. lol (after I put down my camera)
