Vodafone zoo zoo ads all in one - 25 IPL zoo zoo ads -

Six months ago, Vodafone briefed its agency, Ogilvy India, to create uncommon characters a common thread to link the ads in the campaign together. Rajiv Rao, executive creative director, South Asia, Ogilvy India, tells afaqs! that the only starting point for the team was that the character had to be simple to a stupefying level. And thus, the Zoozoo was born.

No, they arent animated characters. They are human beings who were made to wear body suits. The design of the characters is such that one gets fooled into thinking it is animation, shrugs Rao, which was indeed the very illusion that had to be created. In a sense, it is live animation! he quips, referring to the fact that it was all shot live.

Prakash Varma, ad filmmaker, Nirvana Films, has directed the commercials, and reveals that the Zoozoos were a big challenge to create. The practical aspects of how they will move, talk, gesticulate and emote were very important. Essentially, costume design and artwork were crucial elements.

  • I LOVE THEM as like all of us here except those 19 retards but anyways , They are so CREATIVE & INNOVATIVE & unlike most ADs on TV it is 1 of those which every1 can enjoy with family.

    I think VODAFONE or Whoever has COPYRIGHTS of them should make atleast a Mini - Cartoon series of ZOO ZOO Or should make a Funny Movie about them cause they are damn adorable & cute & people <3 them & would pay to watch them even more than just Commercials :)

  • @mvatcheva Technically, since they didn't use more than 30 seconds of the song it's legal for them to use it because people are allowed to have a 30 second preview of songs without buying them.

  • Although I don't want to disrespect the work of the videographers and costume designers involved, I know for a fact that Ogilvy India have NOT paid for or asked the Youngblood Brass Band for permission to use their song "Nuclear Summer", which they used (illegally and disrespectfully) in the clip "Be The Star Of The Match" (see 00:22). Robbing other artists and hoping they won't notice, way to go Oglivy India.
