Denver Home Improvement http://www.patioandhomeimprovementdesign.com We just completed this garage storage deck in Louisville Colorado. Our client needed more space in the garage so we designed this overhead deck platform. We also installed new shelving to maximize the storage space overhead. We use a steel L bar to attach to the roof truss for our support in the corner where there was no wall to attach.

  • It's pretty strong and very safe for what it's being used for. When I'm building garage storage space, I'm concidering a person using it's not going to be up and down every day. And they won't be playing on it. Thanks for the comment!

  • Nice....!

  • @roccoo7s Thanks. We upload several videos. You can subscribe to our channel for more or share them with your friends. Have a great day!

  • Thanks for the comment. This project was looked at by an engineer. It is very well built. We had two large men on it and it didn't move. Most of the storage is stacked on the shelves we installed. The platform is not ment to be filled up with heavier items. I have built several decks in the past and this platform is built closely to the way we build decks. You could probably park a motorcycle on it if you could get it up. Subscribe if you want more home improvement videos. Thanks again!

  • Yeah you have some great ideas but the safety issue is a bit troubling. I would suggest something like what DIYGarageShelf makes, very affordable and I think each bay of their shelving holds up to 200 lbs.

  • Hope they don't put to much weight up there! That's a lot of square footage, and above area to fill up with stuff? That 2x4 joist, and hanger system, you built won't hold much weight b/4 it come down. Looks potentionally dangerous & could lead to a lawsuit if someone gets hurt or killed when it comes down. Have a structural engineer look at it, and he will tell you the same, and might help you come up with a sounder, safer, storage loft area design. Just my two cents.
