atuomatic rx8, fail

This car already under performs (in a straight line) for its price but if you get a 4spd auto its hopeless. So much power is lost in the drivetrain with the horrible gearing. And I didn't know these engines make it to 155k miles often lol. Someone must have actually got there oil changed every 2k miles =]

My RX8 has had no issues, of course mazda went through it before I took it from the dealer and either the guy took damn good care of it, or mazda replaced almost everything, its clean, spotless, brand new looking, new cat, muffler, anyways, 55k on it now, never had one single issue, not even a hiccup.

It hardly ever works. I always soak my plugs and flood the engine. Got to pull the plugs and let dry by hand. Then blow dry with a couple false turns of the engine with sparks out. Always works for me
FWY: don't start the car in the garage, especially if you are backed in! You will fill your house up with white smoke!
1st hand exp!

When you press the pedal all the way to the floor while starting it, it tells the ECU you are trying to deflood it, and it does not put any fuel into the engine while the throttle is all the way open, allowing it to push the excess fuel out the exhaust while pulling fresh air in to replace it.
I realize you probably already got your car deflooded, but now you know how to fix it, along with anybody reading this.

Why does nobody know how to deflood an engine? Every car I've owned, including a 1985 Camaro has the same simple deflooding procedure.
1. Turn the igntion on, but don't try to start it
2. Press gas pedal all the way to the floor (make sure it's floored and not part way down)
3. With pedal on the floor, try to start the engine
4. Crank for 10-15 seconds, repeat 2-3 times
5. Take foot off gas pedal and try to start it normally. If it doesn't start, try step 4 again.

seems just like my 4 speed auto 8.. my engine is flooded what do i do then?
-
It was probably just flooded and the person that looked at it thought it was a 4 cylinder with fuel injection so it couldn't be flooded and must be blown. I had a tire place flood my motor for the first time in my car's history of 4 years, I tried to explain why it was flooded and the mechanic was arguing how you can't flood a modern car and that there must be some other problem with my car. I had to give him a history lesson on Rotary motors for about 15 minutes.
hey overclock, I was wondering, do you know why some RX-8's have a part orange steering wheel or red, and others are just plain black? do you know why?

If your car comes with leather interior, the steering wheel will always match the leather trim. My leather is all black, so the steering wheel is black. Red/black leather comes with red/black steering wheel.

does it really have 155k miles?? wow

Yes, and it felt like it was going to break the tires loose going from 2nd to 3rd gear... and it's a 4 Port Renesis... I was pretty surprised myself.
