Not necesairly an ignorance-proving reaction. Some people might choose to accept the fact that they ARE a part of all this ignorant mass, instead of blaming everybody else and thinking "gosh, I'm a superior being in a world of apes". Esentially, everything is our own fault - and since I'm not from USA, I can say this is valid for most countries struggling with sucky politics. (I found this video because today is voting day)
