For the better part of two decades, Precision Preparation, Inc. (PPI) and 2006 Off-Road Hall of Fame inductee Ivan "Ironman" Stewart were a nearly unbeatable force in the highly competitive world of off-road racing. Together, they claimed 88 victories including numerous Baja 500's and even one Baja 1000. That win, along with four Baja 500's were accomplished using chassis number 015.

Built in 1993 to replace the successful but aging 010 chassis, the 015 would become the Master's thesis and, ultimately, final product of a remarkably successful off-road team. RK Motors Charlotte is proud to offer the unique experience of owning this incredible piece of motorsports history.

Fresh out of an extensive restoration performed by many of the same hands that originally built it, there is no finer or more significant example of an off-road racer on the market.

At the core of this truck is a Lexus-derived aluminum 302 cubic inch V8. Like the Lexus engine, the race version retains a DOHC/four-valve configuration but little else. The components list includes familiar names such as JE Pistons and Carrillo Rods but every piece was custom built to PPI's specifications. With a 13:1 compression ratio, the power plant is good for over 550hp with a flat torque range from 4,000 to 7,500 rpm -- ideal for tearing across deserts at over 135mph. Backing that engine is a Hewland VGC 200 gearbox often seen in GTP racing applications.

Underneath the truck, the front and rear suspension are both comprised of a double A-arm setup featuring PPI coil overs with internal position sensitive shocks that can be tuned for compression and rebound. The setup is good for a total of 22 inches of travel, making small jumps a simple matter. Sturdy 17 inch PPI 48-bolt beadlock wheels wrapped in tall 37" tires also do their part in absorbing impact. steering is kept light thanks to a PPI V2 power rack and pinion with ram assist while braking is handled by a custom four-wheel disc setup.
Inside, the interior is far less restrictive than most race vehicles with plenty of room on either side of the center-mounted seat. The seat itself is a heavily padded Mastercraft piece with a Simpson four-point harness keeping the driver in place during tough landings. The left side of the dash houses controls for the 12 Hella HID spotlights while the right side houses controls for basic components such as the ignition and fuel pump. Behind the steering wheel, a digital screen displays vehicle readouts.

With the exception of additional lighting, the truck appears exactly as it did at the it's final race -- the Baja 2000. The composite body is remarkably straight and the paintwork furthers the quality exhibited on every other piece of 015.

Motorsports enthusiasts would likely agree that it's difficult to look at this truck without envisioning it airborne and covered in dust, with the Ironman at the wheel.
