Blockbuster movie 2012 is about to be released, stating that on 21st December 2012, the world will come to an end. The film, many books and internet speculation quote the completion of the five-thousand year cycle of the Mayan Long Count calendar, ending on this date as prophesying a global catastrophe.
But leaders of the Mayan people of Central America, whose ancestors devised the intricate calendar, disagree.
They say that whilst marking the end of an era, it is our materialistic world-view and lifestyles rather than the material world itself that may be transformed. For them and many leaders of change emerging around our planet, 2012 offers us the opportunity of a new beginning.
The Mayans say the choice is ours to make.
@Heather4Forever Really? i heard about that, wasn't too sure if it was true. I think we may know who will take control over this now.

Thank you so much for addressing the release of the film; its so erroneous and misleading impact. I have been seeing too little reaction towards it so far from the community who usually is directly involved... Dissapointing.
