Question!
What are the sign of oil production?
-
@mycatisromeo The first time i heard about it I was in denial too. People dont want to hear that we (The U.S.A.) are going to have to drastically change our way of life. People think that alternative fuels are going to save us. With the amounts that we will need and the fact that most if not all of these are awash in petroleum, it simply will not work. Let them go through the stages of denial, anger, then exceptance.

There is a way to fix the problem. I would say that putting in billions of dollars into infrastructure spending on high-speed trains, electric cars, and hundreds of square miles of solar panels in the middle of the desert - would fix the problem - but it wont. A temporary fix such as this would allow more population and economic growth, which continues to strain our world food supply. Whether it be now or later, NATURE will fix the global problem known as the human race. Nature strives 4 balance

I started looking into this due to Bush wanting to drill in Alaska. The estimates ranged (Ithink)from 10 to 20 years of oil for the US available there. Which seemed not like much. Why bother? But then I started finding this info on peak oil. It's hard not to get fanatical about the subject, it's like a train bearing down, and people are having a nice pick-nick on the tracks, worried about the ants getting to the food. But mentioning it is worthwhile, try and people to look into it for themselves

Azkin13, Yes credible evidence would be nice. Otherwise, no, oil is not going to "run out", but demand will far outstrip supply.
-
Azkin13, can you please supply some credible evidence to back up these assertions?
-
Yup! Few listen. Maybe more will soon

HaHaHa America is sitting on the worlds largest reserves of oil in Alaska, 100 to 200 years worth of oil. Its leaving it in the ground for two reasons, to suck dry the arab oil producing countries and to save the dollar from collapsing. Wake up America the NeoCons have stitched the world up because of the apathy of too many....
i've tried bringing up the subject of peak oil and tried to explain it to some friends of mine - they wont listen. In fact, alot of them don't even want to talk to me anymore. That's fucked up isn't it. What do people do when they don't "believe" in something or something scares them? They don't think about it - now everytime I'm around my friends, I get this vibe like they think I'm crazy. Most people simply will NOT believe it until it happens. Ignorance is bliss.

Don't give up on them. But also moderate it too, you don't need to come 100% with it all the time. Peak Oil, sadly, has ruined a lot of friendships and possibly a few marriages. And that's unfortunate.
If a person isn't ready to hear it. Drop it, and move on to the next. Just plant the seed. Daily events have a way of bringing people around. I've had people who I haven't talked to in a year, call me up and say "What's this Peak Oil thing again?" Oil doubling in a year can have that effect.
