Thank you lhcarter. Americans need to become educated on many truths - the truth of how many glorious gifts we have, and how just being enamored by just "interesting sounding concepts. They sound great, yes, sometimes, but are not critical thinkers at all anymore???? How can we feel like quaintly "trying on" any of these insanities: socialism (which just brings everyone down - think Cuba)?? Communism (dear God, why would anyone still think that is a good idea)?? These devastate.

Anyone among you who thinks he is educated, read "The Gulag Archipelago", "The First Circle", "One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich". Anyone who is enamored of communism and socialism, read these books and then see what you think.

Solzhenitsyn said in the G A that ""no girl of 23 years" can understand the tragedy that took place in those camps. destiny decided that i read his book at exactly 23 years and back then i didn't understand why he said that... i see now, he was write: you have to live such an experience to fully understand it. i often ask myself what would i have done if i pass through what he did...

A fine video. I today saw an interesing documentary on Swedish television about his life. You know, a Swedish journalist was his only real connection for many years with the west. They had many secret meetings in Moscow fooling the KGB. The name of the Swedish journalist is Stig Fredrikson. This you can read about in for instance the book by Solzhenitsyn, The Oak and the Calf .
