Original music by Brent Blount. Available at www.brentblount.com

Sometimes dreams need to be expressed in art. The song "Inuit Elder" is from my album "Black Kettle's Vision"

"So much ice (has) melted this (last) summer that the Northwest passage across the top of Canada is fully navigable, and observers say the Northeast passage along Russia's Arctic coast could open later this month."

  • The plural of Inuit is Inuit.

  • I guess if everyone thought liek you and did nothing but point fingers, then the inevitable will happen and you are right, but there are humans that fight for a better world and I can tell you are not one of them.

  • I never said the Inuit or any other indigenous peolpe don't have the right to hunt ANY animal. The Inuits waste NOTHING! I worked among the them for two seasons exploring for hard minerals in NW Alaska 100 miles above the Arctic Circle. Some extinctions like the Permian & Cretaceous occur geologically "overnight" - others are more gradual such as at the end of the Pleistocene. We're witnessing this now due to natural & man-made causes. However, global warming is NOT related to the latter.

  • what are you talking about are you not a man? you cannot call people naive for the things they do to survive. You don't hear me saying how terrible th einuits are when they hunt the seals almost to extinction do you. Mass excintions happen about every 60 million years, that is just how the earth recycles itself. Its not about will it happen, but when and we alreayd missed it in 1994 when the comet hit Jupiter.

  • The gradual and sometimes radical extinction of species over the last 600 million years is part of Nature. I don't like to see the populations of magnificent animals such as polar bears, tigers, Great Apes, or whales decline and disappear but it is part of the natural order of things. Man is so niave and arrogant to think that he can control everything!

  • My facts are straight, amateur! I'm a geologist with a B.S. and M.S. and 35 years of professional experience. Sea level in fairly recent geologic time has been both much higher and lower than it is now by hundreds of feet. Man's very short written history obviously doesn't record that but the rocks do. Ice cap waxing and waning and corresponding fluctuations in sea level are something that the combined efforts of the ENTIRE human race is NOT going to alter or have the most miniscule effect!

  • yea thats why the poles are melting to the point where there will be no ice cap for polar bears to live on, get your facts straight

  • We're in the midst of a major inter-glacial. Its happened multiple times in recent earth history. None of Man's puny efforts to slow or reverse it are going to have any effect what-so-ever! The planet will cool, the glaciers will re-advance, and the seas will once again drop in God's own time. Subsequently the cycle will repeat itself.
