You're right, it is silly. The overall talent of Melissa Etheridge as a musician, writer, and singer is greater that of Janis Joplin.

I am a Joplin fan, but I always object to people pretending that some individual artist far exceeds the talent of all other artists in existence. That is what is silly. These ladies burned up the stage with their performance Give them their due.

not an etheridge fan generally or a Joplin fan but this performance was stunning and done with so much passion and soul...that primal scream brought me out of my seat when Isaw it live
