This is from the early Sixties, a Studebaker ABC Used Car Commercial ABC was Studebaker's branded Used car lot name. ABC Stood for Always Buy Certified. This was Similiar to Chevy's brand of OK Used Cars or Plymouth Top Quality Used Cars. The manufactures all would advertise to help dealer move cars that were traded in on the Brands New Cars. Jackson Beck does the voice over for this ad.

  • That's the narrator for the 80's GI JOE cartoon! COOL!

  • @dukenthaylor Jackson Beck passed away in 2004 at the age of 94. He had a great voice. He's the narrator of the Woody Allen film, "Take the Money and Run".

  • Is that a 55 or 56 Packard Clipper in one of the first shots? Packard was dead when the commercial was produced but the company still had loyalty. Amazing.

  • Actually, Packard was still in the Corporate name until 1963. There was a hope for sometime with Studebaker that the Packard name could be brought back. Originally, the Avanti was concieved as that car or a else use the Pierce Arrow name which was still owned by Studebaker.

  • @Drivermatic Packard was awfully good at screwing things up all by themselves (doggedly sticking with the straight 8 for too long). The merger was a nightmare (famously compared to 2 drunks trying to stand each other up). The mid-50's Packards had horrid quality control issues.. still, I'd love to have a 2-tone Carribean convertible...

  • @AtomicRooster77 Wickie was the original voice of Bluto in Popeye cartoons in the 1930s - I think he was released because he couldn't get along with the rest of the voice cast (Mae Questel and Jack Mercer).

  • Who the Hell is Gus Wickie?

  • @AtomicRooster77 He maybe the voice of Bluto since the 1940's, but he's not as good as Gus Wickie.

  • The voice of Bluto from the Popeye cartoon! Don't forget the Little Caesar's Pizza ads too. "TWO BIG BIG PIZZAS 4 8.88!"

  • @dukenthaylor The narrator of Superman.

  • @OsbornTramain Gotta see that! Thanks! Also, his voice is sampled in one of my favorite songs, "Brainstorm" by the rap group, GANGSTARR. In that tune, Beck repeatedly says "Get on it!" in smooth syncopation, but I don't know what work of his that sound bite is sampled from.

  • Jackson Beck had a great voice!
