usually the older TV sets had pretty good low wattage speakers in them like the one in the beginning of this video.

@EngineManic Same reaction as a fluorescent tube/HID/anything else that uses a vacuum. Though, you wanna be careful with CRTs because of the immensely high vacuum, especially if an implosion band is not present.

@Lachlant1984 I totally agree! CRTs are the best esp. for playing classic games on. I got a Sony Trinitron from the early 90s off eBay for cheap, the picture is awesome...way better contrast then LCD. Oh and it was mad cheap too ;)

crazy. loved the arcs. those tv's are going into the bin eh? i'd always jump if a tv sparked like that. any way you can take these tv's and take their cord and wire it to a mot for massive circuit board destruction? would that be feasible? oh and ive subbed you too :)

Cool; Only that I grew up with a Rank Arena :(

@DragonFlyback256 You are correct there... they were.
Damn, I like CRT TV's more than this LCD/plasma shit, do any companies out there still make CRT based TV sets? I like that strange clicking noise the Healing TV made when you sprayed the condenser cleaner at it, that's awesome. As for the Panasonic, I think my primary school had something similar to that one, perhaps a bit larger than that.

@Lachlant1984 If anyone makes CRT tv's it would be China, and they would be nasty cheap.
LCD and Plasma TV's are really good, a little tricky to fix when you have been schooled on CRT TV's, but still good

Cool video! Random question: why is it that the older crt screens appear sort of lighter in color than the newer crt monitors? Like the glass looks whiter or something. Has anyone else ever noticed that about old tvs?

@TromboneSexy yeh they started using different grades of leaded glass. there is a very bog differnce between the NEC and Panasonic tubes

What would happen if you broke the screen on a tv while it was going??

@EngineManic nothing, they go blank and that's it. no Hollywood fireworks or dramatic sparks.
