Please enjoy Teresa's performance of a Japanese song "ララバイ東京 (Lullaby Tokyo)". This song was originally sung by 田辺靖雄 (Tanabe Yasuo), or 布施明 (Fuse Akira). 平尾昌晃 (Hirao Masaaki) composed and 渡辺茂樹 (Watanabe Shigeki) arranged the song, respectively. (Yamaguchi Akari) wrote the lyrics.

I thank ellisoninwonderland very much who has permitted me to use the sound of his corresponding video.

The following are the Japanese lyrics, with my English translation.

Koibito yo doushite nakuno
(My sweetheart, why are you weeping)

Omae no sobani boku ga irunoni
(although I am with you?)

Kuchizuke de namida wo fuite ageyou
(Let me wipe your tears with my kiss)

Dakara yasurakani oyasumi
(So, please sleep quietly)

Hoshikuzu mo mousugu nemuru
(Stardust will soon go sleeping)

Lullaby Lullaby Tokyo
(Lullary, Lullaby Tokyo)

Koibito yo kanashimi wa wasure
(My sweetheart, please forget about grief)

Mujakina mamade amaete okure
(and behave innocently)

Nemuri ni tsukumade sobani irukara
(I will be at your side until you fall asleep)

Sotto kono ude de oyasumi
(Rest on my arms quietly)

Hanabira mo mousugu nemuru
(Flower petals will also go sleeping soon)

Lullaby Lullaby Tokyo
(Lullaby Lullaby Tokyo)

Omae no temeni utatte ageyou
(I will sing a song for you)

Itsumo hohoende oyasumi
(Please sleep always with a smile)

Machi no hi mo mousugu nemuru
(Town lights will also go sleeping soon)

Lullaby Lullaby Tokyo
(Lullaby, Lullaby Tokyo)

  • I love this song, Masami-san. Bossanova and Enka combine. That's my own thinking!

  • My wife Kyoko's parents and younger sister's family is living with me now in California because of the earthquake. Thank you for your kind comments about the earthquake and for playing Teresa's music. Goshinsetsu ni kansha shimasu.

  • Beautiful scenery of Tokyo. The bridge is very pretty, esp. at night.

Teresa's voice is just the one for lullaby - very soothing.

  • May the Japanese people, very soon, will be able to sleep with a smile and without worries.

    Thank you for sharing.
