@KelliesKitchen6 Actually... I heard someone from OR say that, too. So, maybe there are just some bad apples there. But that's not ok in the MAO, so hopefully that's gets taken care of.

@KelliesKitchen6 well it's against the rules of the organization for any local to do that.. so if it's actually true you should do something about it. but can we clarify that is was a miss AMERICA pageant and not miss USA? because miss usa would do that but miss america wouldn't, it's against every policy. Miss USA has a selection process for local pageants which only exist in bigger states, miss america doesn't.. anyone who wants can compete in locals

That Was my experience it happened in Klmath Falls OR ok maybe not every where but in our local competition they said lose 70 pounds and come back next year. It hurt so much and Now that it's been a while I have less of a grudge against the whole program. BUT IT DID HAPPEN I have the E-mail to prove it I'm happy to here other girls of larger sizes make it in, in other places.

@KelliesKitchen6 are you kidding me right now? that is not true at all. i am a titleholder in the miss america pageant system and i have compete with girls of all sizes. miss america would NEVER tell someone they had to lose weight. while there is a swimsuit portion, we value girls' intellectual abilities, their size doesn't matter. that would never happen as it is not a beauty pageant whatsoever it is truly a wonderful scholarship program that provides young women with so many opportunities.

thats not true, beause you need to win a local title, and then a state title to compete in the Miss America Ogranization. I compete and know plently of girls who have a little extra padding and still win local crowns. The Miss America Organization is not a beauty pageant either you must be confused with the Miss USA pageant.....we are a scholarhsip progroam and I promise if you truly understood what it takes to suceed in this organization you would recant that statement.
