The Intragastric balloon is a temporary weight loss procedure in which a silicon balloon is placed in the lumen of the stomach, causing a feeling of fullness, reducing appetite and thereby leading to weight loss. The balloon must be removed after a period of 6 months. This is a good option for those who are too high risk for surgery as the first step or for people who need to loose only 10-15 kgs.
