Magic Jack works great.....Installed Dec 2010 paid for 2 years and next phone bill is not due till Dec 2012.
Sounds clear, has callers id, and voicemail that you can also play and check from your email.
Only downsides for me personally is that you have to restart the program sometimes when my computer takes an Windows update, and customer service is only by online chat......for the price and quality it is a great buy.
Simple installation.

-security vulnerability: since computer must be on at all times and must run this application, there is a higher risk of security issues (i.e. viruses)
-does not include 16+ calling features you receive with other Digital Phone service
-Service will not work if computer is on sleep mode
-customer support is not available beyond online chat

-video capabilities not available
-not a viable replacement for traditional phone service
-required computer for use of phone service
-must install application on computer, be logged in, and online to receive/place calls
-in order to have 24/7 access to computer-based service, computer must be on at all times increasing the cost and shorten lifespan of the computer

I use this, mostly for work but whenever I need. It's been working great for maybe 2 years now.

@Ratacon2004 Hmm, that would be pretty cool, but it seems like your computer turning on would be a waste of energy. Or maybe your computer always has to be on for this majic jack to be on as well., I don't know, but I am going to buy one tomorrow or this weekend.
