  • is the vasoline gauze an occlusive dressing, and what types of injurys wouls you want to use an occlusive dressing on???

  • @racestarter88 Vasoline gauze is definately considered useful as an occlusive dressing, but in the field everything from bed head wrappers and venagaurd can be successfully used, so long as it is used properly. Occlussive dressings are commonly used for gunshot wounds, when air may need to escape, but there is a danger of air entering the wound.

  • can you use an occlusive dressing instead???

  • @racestarter88

On this type of injury, you wouldn't. Occlusive dressings are meant for very specific types on injuries, where you would want to control bleeding, but ensure air can escape in one direction.

Application of an occlusive dressing may be a video feature we add when next we update. Thanks. :)
