i don't know who owns it now but there is a old reserve military base not far from where i live.it is used for storage for a business or some thing.it has a natural spring across the road from it and a creek in front next to a gas station.the building is an old metal long building,with a basement.it is huge.in a shtf situation i know if it came down to it,it would be perfect and its already fenced in.just don't know how 2 find the owner?

@jameswrwice check with the tax office and you can look it up on the tax map and have the owners name in just a few minutes. Its that easy.

@yourtofiz a wood stove by far. Most wood stoves are rated at least 60% efficent compared to 10% efficent for a fireplace. So you need less wood for a wood stove.

So much goes into the decision of where to locate. For instance, should the house be located at the bottom of the hill so it isn't visible to passersby, or on top a hill to have an advantage in a firefight (high ground)? Should it be heavily wooded? This, again, offers concealment (and convenient fuel), but it also offers concealment for an attacking force (whereas an open field gives them fewer places to hide). Not easy decisions.

having a prepared positon is with power ,water, food ,security ,is great.But is also a huge attraction to others, I would suggest that you "mock attack / infiltrate " your wrol places and pinpoint the weakest areas,then you could adjust the defense plan. ie.grow thick areas of thorned bushes ,make or pinpoint areas for your attackers to hide and booby trap them,guide them the way you want them to come and lay pungee pits ect. the longer you have them set up the more natural they will be.
