The zodiac is the ring of constellations that lie along the path of the Sun. All 88 constellations of the celestial sphere have been plotted with minute accuracy using data from the SFA observatory. As the sun and earth align with a constellation, the zodiac sign is diplayed in the top right corner. Visit www.pixzul.com

  • how is it possible to see the signs wich the sun points if the sun is infront of the zodiac who are we supposed to see?. would it be more logical to see the sings who are behind the earth?

  • @roterdamac13 Just before sunrise, look towards the eastern horizon at the point where the sun will appear. You have a second opportunity after sunset towards the west. Obviously, results will be affected by your location and the weather.

  • Why start with Gemini? And why that horrible scream at the end with the diamond-pointed figure, as if some devilish character was involved? Makes no sense. Also the shapes of the constellations are not identical with those shown for each one in Wikipedia, which shows precisely the stars involved in each on the backdrop of the celestial field. The diagram for Scorpius in Wikipedia also shows accurately Ophiuchus above the ecliptic on top of Scorpius

  • @roobookaroo The position of the stars in this animation are accurate. They are plotted using the SFA observatory star charts (easy to find online). About the shapes: Constellations are defined by the set of stars that make it up, nothing else; illustrators are free to make whatever graphics they like around them. Also your comment about Ophiuchus is misleading, the cluster of stars defined by his right foot intersects the ecliptic which puts him on it, not above it.

  • Nice. But there is a problem with the Earth's spin. It appears that the spin of the Earth exactly matching the rate of rotation around the Sun, which would potentially confuse beginners between Earth's yearly and daily motions. (The details of the surface of the Earth should be deliberately obfuscated in order to avoid that confusion.)

  • @yoshidabrcg Thanks. & you are correct.

  • In the map: the earth & our sun travel slightly different orbital paths in the zodiac epliptical or is that the celestial equator? I'm an Aquarius born on Feb. 15, 1980 when the sun & moon are 5 degrees apart: the next day (Feb 16) came a total solar eclipse in the eastern hemisphere. The new sidereal astrological method puts me in Aquarius, but a day (Feb 14) after the sun leaves Capricorn & the old tropical zodiac shows the sun closer to Pisces within the 3 day weekend in 1980 (leap year). +
