@childsweethearts if you go through steven curtis chapman's organization that he started (show hope) they help you pay for adopting. they realized how many people wanted to adopt, but couldn't because of the cost. so, him and his wife started an adoption organization to give grants to those who want to adopt, but can't afford it. it's a really great organization!! (go to showhope.org if you are really interested)

I would love to adopt an orphan. I have lots of love to give and a home. But with so many orphans needing a home. why does it cost $60,000 or more? It makes some people unable to adopt because not everyone is that rich. So many children miss out on good homes and families.

Give the money to the kids BUT...VC put in pocket 90% or more!!
Babies drink water and eat.....rice soups for survival!

Does anyone have any words for my mother? She doesn't want to be bothered with another child, but I really want her to adopt.

Nicely done!! I love the before and after pictures.I know quite a few of these Vietnam kiddos.I have twins adopted form Vietnam in Oct 2007.I am going to add this to my blog.
I have to agree with childsweethearts in that it costs so much to adopt that folks like me who are living on SSI cannot possibly adopt. But I am a Christian single woman with lots of love to give and lots of time for a young child or even a baby. It is too bad there is so much expense and red tape to giving a forever loving home to one of these little ones that are in so much need of love and affection and stability.

@JesusLivesandRules It's true~ International adoption is expensive and that is because there are professionals involved that do this for a living and they need to be paid~ social workers, lawyers, adoption agencies, in-country expenses for the care of the children and costly G'vment regulations ALL put in place to protect the orphan from exploitation. BUT there are many resources to help prospective families with upfront adoption costs and now a Federal tax credit that will reimburse expenses.

@Mama2aBkrzsDozen The US adoption tax credit will reimburse families for about $13,000 of their adoption expenses. Plus, you might also want to look at domestic adoptions. If you adopt out of the US foster care system, not only are there very few, if any, fees but often the adoptive parent is granted a subsidy and medical expenses are paid to care for a child until they are 18 year old.

With so many orphans from Africa and India, why doen't the video show any babies of color?

When we first put this together last year it was based on our personal adoption experiences ~ therefore all the children are either Chinese or Vietnamese. It was important to us to say with integrity that all the orphanage pictures shown were taken either by ourselves, or by the one of the families whose children are pictures in the slideshow. We know every child in the slideshow and can testify to the dramatic changes that havein their young lives since being adopted.

That said, Because of attention this video received I have now able to network with other parents who have adopted children from Russia, Africa, India and the US I am ready working on another presentation which will include some of these precious children as well.
