First good test of my GoPro!

'88 LX 5.0 MustangMy mods
Aftermarket 2 core radiator
Proform thermostat electric fan
Ford Racing hose kit
BBK SSI intake with 70 MM throttle body
Edelbrock E-street heads
1.6 roller rockers
B303 cam
Flowtech equal length long tube headers
World Class T-5 five speed
Ford racing drive shaft
Trickflow dif. cover
Mass air conversion coming soon! Idle surges, low speed buck, majorly rich (blows black smoke) so I decided to do away with speed density and convert

All work has been done by myself with the exception of the cam and head swap which was done by my dad.

  • @blindskater200, the heads are used. They are a ford racing gt40 aluminum. I have to see if they are the bigger valves or not, those would be alittle to big. What are they, the 202 160s ? Something like that.

I would think with a good tune, "SD being alittle harder to tune" that the combo would work, the original combo i talked about.

This is depending on the size of valves in those heads.

  • @02mp9696 Oh if you intend to get it professionally dyno tuned then hell yeah keep SD. You'll gain a few horsepower over MAF just because there's no obstruction in the air intake. But yeah most aluminum heads have 2.02's and 1.60's. If you're getting your car tuned I'd for sure throw those on there

  • Sounds mean as fuck!! How does the car run while driving around town? Does it stall at idle? Im building a motor myself, its a 88 lx also, speed Density!! i dont plan on converting to maf. So just want to see how how yours has been doing.

    Thanks

  • @02mp9696 Only drove it twice. To the muffler shop and then back. It was enough for me to decide to convert to mass air. Remaining speed density with mods like this is not advised. It loaded up bad and blew smoke everywhere. Fouled plugs and all the extra fuel bled down passed the rings and now have gas in my oil. It really is best to convert to mass air unless you go like GT40 heads and an SD compatible cam. But what's the fun in not building the best you can? lol

  • @blindskater200 ya i plan on keeping the SD, but change out the e7s and get the gt40 aluminum ones, big valves, and keep stock cam, swap for the 1.7 rockers. should be a good combo.

  • @02mp9696 The GT40's are still cast iron and the valves aren't that big. Intake is 1.84 and exhaust is 1.54. You don't want to have huge valves for speed density, anyways. Anything that changes the vacuum and the flow of the motor drastically, will mess with the speed density set up and you'll be running rich

  • get rid of speed density and that should get rid of most of your problems remember speed density can change for mods it pre program from the factory with set defaults installing a cam will cause the car to run like shit

  • *wipe's off cum stains*

  • @JGB914 Haha that's funny :p

I got the Ford racing B303

  • I meant camshaft lol my bad

  • @JGB914 HD Hero 2 Outdoor Edition. I wanted the Motorsports Edition for the suction cup but I'll just buy that at a later date

  • What cam do you have
