Best tune EVER! Who is the drummer?

Thanks. Unfortunately, the drummer is not Julian Marciniak but Steve Fidyk...

Wish there was more than just one chorus for soloing, this video is very pleasing. :-)

Yes, that's a pity, when your just in your solo, the theme comes back again. The theme is also a bit slow, I think.

No Tony, the theme is meant to be slow and lamenting. They are nailing the tempo of the theme just where it was originally intended. That makes the solo section that much sweeter. Have you heard the MJQ's original recording of this? If so, fine, if not, try and find any recording of the MJQ doing this tune. :-)

Well yes I know the original recording, and it's very nice, of course! But I also know a live performance from the MJQ and then they play it a bit faster. Of course the contrast is important. That makes this tune a special jazz standard.
