Armed robbery at Joe's Market in Quincy

Viral Patel was just getting ready to close his convenience store, Joe's Market, on Centre Street in Quincy Saturday night when three people, one carrying a semi-automatic handgun, burst in the door and ordered everyone to lie down on the floor.

Patel was in his office at the front of the store, his store clerk was at the counter and a customer was in an aisle.
The robbers, two men and possibly a woman, were wearing black face masks, black jackets and jeans. They ran behind the counter and took the cash from the cash register and a safe, which had the key nearby.
They scooped up cartons of cigarettes and ran out the door, escaping in a four-door white sedan.
An undisclosed amount of cash was taken. No one was injured in the armed robbery.

Patel bought the store in October, after working there four years as a clerk. He came to this country from India in 1998 and said this was the most frightening experience of his life.
The police are investigating and ask anyone with clues to call Quincy detectives at 617-745-5764.
