  • No one thinks about government running anything well until they need to call 911.

    How is that working out?

  • Unfortunately, in 34 states, 75% of the insurance market is controlled by five or fewer companies. In Alabama, almost 90% is controlled by just one company. Without competition, the price of insurance goes up and the quality goes down. And it makes it easier for insurance companies to treat their customers badly by cherry-picking the healthiest individuals and trying to drop the sickest; by overcharging small businesses who have no leverage; and by jacking up rates.

  • @treat2day i love that! and i agree

  • Louise Slaughter is a 4' talking turd. Thanks a lot for ruining health care, bitch.

  • @83169 I'd love to address the healthcare issue, but you people are even more clueless (imagine that) regarding healthcare, than you were regarding the shrub's funny money...

  • @83169 P P S I hope you really enjoyed that $300 dollars, because it's going to cost you at least double that with the compound interest on the national debt.

    Again, ain't it fun? :)

  • @83169 P S I didn't cash, deposit nor endorse Bush's Monopoly Money... ain't it fun? :)

  • @83169 See, I almost never accept the "conventional widom" on anything, because I can connect the dots for myself, but if you get your anti-news and anti-information from the usual suspects (cnbc, fox, cnn, msnbc, am talk radio), then you don't even get the dots to connect. NO F'N DOTS!

Now, I know I've made y'all feel icky bringing up something you can't just push off onto the politicians (Republican or Democrat), SO GET READY, GET SET, RANT111

  • @83169 So the questions you should be pondering (if you have the equipment) are:

    1) What kind of country would wipe out a federal surplu (if it existed) for the sake of a shopping spree?

2)What kind of country would say, "Yeah, That's my money!" after being told the money didn't exist, by the same guy who's writing the checks?

  • @83169 The trouble is, after correctly pointing out that the surplus didn't exist, as soon as Bush became president, he said that the surplus belonged to the american people, and not the government (as if the money had suddenly, and perhaps magically, appeared in the federal treasury), and he wrote everyone a check for $300. Now think about that, 310 million checks for $300. That's serious money, even in Washington.

  • @83169 Now, Governor Bush, durin his presidential campaign correctly pointed out that the "surplus" was a projection which was yet to materialize, and besides no one can accurately make predictions about what, if any, kind of surplus might result. In otrher words, the surplus didn't actually exist.

  • @83169 Now fast-forward to 2000. During Al Gore's presidential campaign, both he and the president made political hay out of the budgut surplus they had created. The problem is,it was a PROJECTED surplus based on the fact the Clinton had, in fact, balanced the budget, but still had not made a dent in the mass debt he inherited. And his PROJECTION was based on then current economic trends and tax policies, which unfortunately, never remain static.
