  • easy for you guys to critisize her piloting abilities sitting at your computer not actually being in the same situation as her....

  • @12345ng Take only the information from a situation that serves to benefit lest you will be like the cat that sat on a hot stove. That cat will never again sit on a hot stove, but it will never sit on a cold one either!!

  • any idea if she was a privet pilot or working for someone ?

  • There seems to be little known about the pilot, I do know that the original was removed recently for some strange reason which would lead me to think it was more commercial than private but I think it serves as a great eye opener.

  • As a male pilot, that is one of my nightmare, I probably would of been screaming all the way down untill impact, I think that lady has balls of steel figuratively spesking thats is.

  • Most insurance companies want you to have at least 1000 hour total and 25 in type for a cessna caravan.

My guess is that she was new to the airplane and new to flying ifr and in ice. In order to fly a caravan in icing legally, you also need to take a cessna caravan icing course.

According to the tags for the video, she was doing a commercial ferry flight (transporting the plane for another owner).

  • Than the safe outcome of the flight

  • Cruising at 9600 or sumtin is well above freezing level, which was 6500 out of showers given her reports... Why she didn't have boots and heat on in first place is what baffles me.

Lack of SA or simply not checking the forecast. After an incident like that I'd land pretty close and reassess the situation of weather before proceeding.

Since her first thought after the incident was to continue to banger which is 450nm away indicates to me that priority was more on completing the flight rather t

  • If you are in IFR and the OAT is at or below 0 you are not doing your job if you are not looking for Ice. She needs to re take the first 40hrs of her training...

  • She could have handled that situation A LOT better. You can say you cant critisize her without being in the situation but she should be able to cope better than constantly saying mayday.

  • So after not being quite sure what the problem is and being told there is an airport within a few miles, the formerly frantic pilot decides to fly another 2.5 hours because it "seems" under control now despite probable icing conditions ahead. I sure hope her passengers read her the riot act.
