Defensive Zone Coverage is a huge part of winning. Many of the best coaches in the NHL are able to teach their teams to commit to defensive tea play. Many of the concepts and teaching progressions were developed by former National and NHL coach Dave King. Competing against the Soviet National Team in the 1988 Olympics provided an opportunity to learn how to play defensively against superior teams. Former National team players Paul Maclean (79-80) and Dave Tippett (83-84) learned from International coaches Dave King, Clare Drake, George Kingston, To Watt and the Russians This visual explanation is an example of "how to play" in your zone.
