Yeah high resolution sprites would have probably been better, but having just heard about this, I'm very intrigued! It's great to see that there's a fourth entry in the series.
Dude, it's still just 3D. The 2D graphics of Goblins 1-3 are hand-painted. They have style. They have atmosphere. They convey mood. You can't do that in a 3D renderer. It just looks like a circus.
and what do you think, 3d models are made by some kind of robots? damn, have you ever tried doing modeling something in 3d? they did pretty good job on describing the gobliins like this, they managed to capture the style well. i liked the 2d graphics more too, but they did pretty good job on this as well
It's the thing itself I'm opposed to, so I don't care very much if they did a good job at it or not, or how much effort did it take. It's ugly and that's that. It was probably not made by robots, but it certainly looks like it was the case. Rendering is a mechanical process; it tries to simulate reality. In fact, 3D graphics is a physical simulation. Definitely NOT something you'd want in a cartoon game. You wouldn't replace illustrations in a book/comics by photographies, would you?
Of course it is. And btw where i'm from 'opening your mind' doesn't mean saying that something which is obviously ugly is beautiful just to please some internet clown ;-)
