a wise lesson. kinda hard to imagine yourself beside him actually focusing on what hes saying lol. but right at the end, i think i understand what he means.

@dale4167 Thats it breaking the sound barrier
-
@dale4167 you do not wait long enough on your back cast, you need to let the line get straight before to push foward,
-
You are putting your power into the centre of the rod, this whips the line and gives the cracking sound. You need to practise flicking just the top 3rd of the rod.
-
@M0vir Sure just bind a tiny piece of wood at the end of the line or something that has similar size and weight as the hook
-
can you practise without a hook?
-
when i cast the line kinda lands in zigzag and i cant get good distance, sorta like what he did at 2:59
-
@dale4167 your not waiting long enough to do your forword cast and put a hook on it
-
Doesn't matter. Whichever hand you want to turn the handle with but check the reel is set up correctly i.e the drag should operate when the line is being pulled off. You can reset it, usually by removing the spool and changing a pawl or something similar inside the reel.

when u put on the reel ,which side should the reel handle be on?
Thanks for the vid's Boonie. Bought my first fly rod today, gave it a shot.. I caught a pretty big tree branch. :P
I couldn't figure out how to find my rhythm. Only way I could get the distance or shoot line was with the whipping, spooking method. Was just happy to be out there trying though. I've only watched the first four lessons and I already feel like I could start catching fish and look like a legit fly fisher. Thanks for the scientific approach towards fly fishing. :)
