polygamus 1 I know what he must have felt like seeing a person you knew that had gone thru tjat experience !! I served on the LST 570 during the war and visited my brother-in-law who was in the 3rd. Marine Div. on guam before the island was completely secured.! We also were in the invasion of Luzon and Okinawa as well as resupplying Leyte at the Tacloban air strip !!

@amphibLST570 it was a documentary on Channel 4 UK3 one hour doc, i taped it n then gave it to a mate who's father inlaw was a japanese prisoner he told me he could only watch few minutes a time then gpo to the kitchen have a drink smoke n come back to watch some more one time hhe regogniosed a mate of his n he couldn't stop cryibg my mate said for ages after he Never even Got in a japanese car n refused to own anything made in japan that applied to my mate he respected himfor it

@ghostdivision7 When a lot of Americans were driving Jap cars he was driving American also German or Swedish cars. He just could not understand why Americans would buy Japanese products. He was in the invasions of Bougainville and Guam with the 3rd Marine Div. and ended up with a chronic case of Malaria till the day he died in 2000.

Respond to this video... Our ship the LST570 participated in this invasion on jan 9th 1945 and is listed by the Philippine Gov. as eligible for the Philippine Presidential Unit Citation.
The Japs were even worse than the Nazis in treatment of the other Asians they were supposed to be saving from colonialism. htey murdered millions of Chinese with no qualms at all.
