The Alternative Vote Explained

TRANSCRIPT
This is a message to my fellow members of anonymous. I have seen numerous videos that are calling for an armed revolution against the government. This is a very bad idea because doing this will give the state proof and propaganda that anonymous are a terrorist group and violent radicals. A true revolution is best waged by winning over public opinion, so to be sympathetic for what we are fighting for them.

One function that we can do is to start monitoring government officials, agents, and cronies. In essence become the new wave of journalists, to expose corruption and oppression wherever it may be in the world. Another is to practice civil disobedience, make them justify their laws and regulations. We should not simply be obedient and compliant because it makes their life or job easier. We need to challenge the establishment every chance that we can get, whether it is regarding the drug war, war on terror, immigration, or laws and regulations designed to protect special interest groups.

We can also make profound changes to the system with three initiatives. First would be to have the states pass laws or have put onto ballots to restrict terms for federal representatives and senators. Stop having career politicians in Washington. Also to have the states they represent pay for their salaries and benefits. No longer should they get premium lifetime benefits that they set for themselves.

Second, get rid of the winner take all for the Electoral College. Not every Californian is a democrat nor is every Texan a republican. Presidential candidates should have to earn those electoral votes. This will also allow other parties and independent candidates bargaining power within the prospective administration.

Lastly, have an alternative voting system. Instead of only picking one candidate out of many, they choose all the candidates listing them from their top pick to their least. This will eliminate spoiler candidates like Ross Perot or Ralph Nader. I will provide a link to watch a video better explaining the alternative system.

I want to close by saying that no government would survive without the consent of its people. We need to remind the politicians that their power is deferred from the people. They do not have any rights that the citizens don't already have themselves. If the state is abusing its power, it is because the people are letting it happen. That is why it needs to said again that we should not be obedient and compliant to the system. We do not owe any political entity any amount of loyalty.

Thank you for your time; please spread this message.
