My view port on Maya has disappeared!-anyone know how to get it back?

I have a question. Everytime I use Maya on my computer a portion of the panel's view is blocked on the right side by a gray box. There are no problems with my far clip plane. Any suggestions?

There's no difference. A company called Alias origanally made Maya, but it was taken over by Autodesk a couple of years ago. So you won't see "Autodesk Maya" on older books, or on older versions of the software.
Great Demo - If you could Please Please do detailed step by step tutorials here on Youtube using the MAYA 2011 platform tutorials in the maya program - You can find them by being in Maya and then go up to Help and then click on Getting Started with Maya - then start making tutorials that coinside step by step with those long drawn out reading tutorials - we need to get to the point and do these tutorials using visual step by steps rather than reading all the mumbo jumbo .. Thanks

Very nice tutorial, thanks very much. I just downloaded the student trial version of Maya because I need to learn to model (my level design career won't go anywhere otherwise :P) and you really helped me get into it.
Cheers.

We're glad you liked it! If you're interested in level design you should check out our "Advanced Level Design" DVD. You can find it in the "Products" section of our website.
Maya is a great place to start modeling characters and props but most of the actual level is built within the video game engine. For example, the Source engine has the Hammer Level Editor, the Crytek engine has Sandbox etc. Good luck with the 3D and stick with it!!

Not bad, it taught me a few more things that I didn't know, like how to get your texture on the sphere. Thanks.
