The ASF is an organization filled with people who imagine themselves to be intellectually superior, who use this "cause" as a way to socialize through high priced fundraising dinners geared at attracting those who have money to keep a core group of people employed at jobs that amount to showing up at these fundraisers so that the wealthy can fish salmon & have a tax shelter.
Nice that they don't discriminate aginst mentally unsound people- even giving them impresive sounding job titles...

Not all rivers are in danger as ASF would like you to believe. Many flourish when killing is permitted. Yes, wild Atlantic salmon populations are decreasing still and BOY OH BOY do the Canadians captialize on that too! For decent fishing a person can expect to pay more than $1,000 US per day and still not catch a fish. Hundreds of $1,000s of dollars are made by the lotteries alone just for the chance to fish for them. ASF contributes money to many of those rivers that charge you an arm and a leg
