The internationally renowned Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui keeps on surprising his audiences with exceptional productions and cooperative ventures. Sometimes he works with practically untrained dancers, and sometimes with Buddhist monks or a star dancer like Akram Khan. Cherkaoui started off as an autodidact, but then went on to train in modern dance. He soon developed into an exceptional dancer and one of today's most striking young choreographers. His productions often look like fantastic stories, yet at the same time they refer to everyday reality. For the Dutch National Ballet, he is making an intimate work for a small group of dancers, to music by the Polish composer Szymon Brzoska.
