Well the old Fairbanks & Morse recoill isn't quite what it use to be. So to make things easier I've taken 2ft of starter rope, tied a knot on each end, placed a washer on the ends of each knot, then wrapped it around the starter cup. It takes a while, and starter fluid always helps too but starts.

  • @nibortheyak Gear-reduction, common back in the day, reverses rotation.

    Some saws had bevel gears, with the crank axis fore & aft.

  • That is old, like from 1750s - before Ben Franklin's time - all chainsaws now have electric-starters!!! I'll give a 1,000 for it, it can go with my collection of Indian rock chainsaws, AMEN!!!

  • @ArmyBoy015 i find that with older homelites the chain has to be more lose on my once it gets heated up if it isnt it will sieze. and everything on the saw is in working order
