@tocsic100 they were never gonna win anyway, he wanted to draw the Test.

very courageous act, this is a team player, I'm a proud Aussie and I am pretty disappointed he couldn't survive so they drew the match, but hey, it's cricket, you win some, you lose some.

I always respected the character of Graeme Smith, but this really took it up a notch. Brave lad.
I am inclined to think many, many players would have shirked their responsibility. Definitely something Aussies and Saffas have in common.. bit of guts.

@nphanlon1973 He won my respect in a big, big way in this series.
There was another moment where he took a catch in the slips down very low, but wasn't sure whether it had carried. Rather than appeal loudly he quietly and politely asked the umpire to check it. The ball had carried and the batsman was given out. Contrast it to how some teams would have carried on in the situation and it was magnificently handled.
Well Done G. Smith

I remember this match. I stood up for Smith.

Just quietly how did MacDonald ever get a baggy green?

This was awesome, great match, great courage, and great respect from both sides. Ricky Ponting and Graeme Smith at the end is one of my favourite images from cricket.
