What kind of elitist government do we have if a firefighter can't give a friendly nod to the president? 146 years ago with Lincoln it was "...of the people, by the people, for the people..." Now it's "Controlling the people, above the people, taxing the people"
I don't know who raised the whole stink about the nod, but *they* should be suspended.

Yea I saw the news story saying that atleast the firefighter was suspended. Thats bullshit! All he did was nod, I thought it was respectful, Im sure the Obama's didnt mind that he nodded. Those are normal people who dont mind a nod every now and then. People blow everything out of the water. Who ever suspended that man was an IDIOT!

The saddest thing is that that drum major was suspended from the department that runs the band for daring to salute the president when the President waved to him. And the President is the problem?

i was in one of the many army bands in the US for 8 years and I have done hundreds of parades just like this as a member of the band...our drum major ALWAYS did some sort of fancy salute or greeting at the review stand or guest of honor. I would have been insulted if he DIDNT jesture to Obama. The drum major needs a major apology from his superiors.

Its a bit harsh to suspend the guy six months. Yes, he broke decorum, which is unprofessional, but cmon, he was just caught up in the moment and happy to see our new president. Give him a break.
