  • twelfth is interesting, because it adds an 'f'.

    So, forty and eighty are pronounced a little different, right? It's like the sound 'ry'. Am I correct?

    To exaggerate, 40 is pronounced "for tea" and 80 is prounced "ate tea".

  • Quite often in fast spoken English the 't' sound turns into a 'd' sound so 'forty' sounds more like 'fordy.'
