I love this station. Only 3 trains a day stop there, so most of the time, you are going to get your doors blown off by passing MBTA trains!! One said they go 60MPH, the other they do 70MPH :-D I go on the handicap platforms, and HOLD ON TIGHT to the rail!

Why did they close the Mishawum station and replace it with the Anderson/Woburn station? I've never been able to figure that out.

I think that it was because there was more room for a parking lot up where they put Anderson. And something was needed up there to cover a bunch of contaminated soil. The MBTA screwed the people using Mishawum by not leaving it as a regular stop. Mishawum may be back fulltime after a planned development gets built where the old parking lot and Logan Express sits now.

I agree that Mishawum should have been kept as a regular stop. It's much more convenient than Anderson, given that it's right in downtown Woburn.

Well, downtown Woburn is more like Main St. a couple miles away. But Mishawum has the mall and all those restaurants and hotels. Seems like people staying in the hotels would like to be able to get on the train right there and go into Boston. The Woburn Loop used to split off the main line at Winchester and come up to Woburn Center. I think that was done away with around 1983 or so.

And I heard somewhere that there is a bunch of hazardess material hidden under the Mishawum parking lot. It will be interesting to see what is found when somebody starts digging there.
